my name yuan means "kite".

my dad gave it to me because he wanted me to fly high.

even though i like its meaning, i never liked the fact that a kite was always attached to a string, a string which allowed my parents to tug at me, and control me.

i never liked that string.

today, i childishly confronted my daddy and asked him why he named me "kite".

yuan: daddy! why you name me "kite"?

dad: because i want you to fly high lah.

yuan: but kite cannot fly that high because it has a string! then you can always control me!

dad: (laughs)

yuan: (stomps off childishly)

a few minutes later, dad shouts across the living room...

dad: yua-nnnnn! the string is so that there's always a relationship!

yuan: (thinks to herself and secretly, smiles)
